Slip Sliding Ice Event

12/21/2013

Video from ice falling off rooftops all around the Dallas Metroplex was stunning and ominous at the same time.  Fortunately, for some of our customers, the damage created by this event was repairable with paintless dent repair.

Here is a 2013 Toyota Highlander.  Both fenders sustained damage along with the hood.  The fenders ended up being excellent candidates for PDR.  The hood on the other hand was vastly improvable but regrettably cracked in two areas from the massive ice impact.  We do understand our customers concern completely when repainting their vehicle is a path they prefer not to travel. Touch up paint is essential and more importantly paramount in securing the integrity of these affected areas afterwards.  Here are the before and afters of each fender.

Professional photographers were abundant over the last few weeks.  Thank you.  Some really incredible shots of the damage to your vehicles allows us to accurately estimate and pass on additional savings.   Accurate estimates are truly immeasurable not only for the dentgeeks but for our amazing customers.

Merry Christmas and warm blessings to all.

Road Trip!

Just one more showcased example of why we, as PDR Techs, have some of the most fulfilling days in our careers.  Folks, the end result here on this 2013 camaro ZL1 fender was far from perfect.  It was creased well into one body line and thoroughly stretched.  Complex dents of this nature are what most of us, paintless dent repair veterans, consider a challenge.  We take them on for our customers and the reward of their expressions of amazement.  Thank you to one of our customers for allowing us to tackle this challenge.  The "Mobile Dentgeek Express" saw a considerable portion of our metroplex again today.  Frisco to Mckinney to Plano then Southlake to Dallas and back to Little Elm.  A road trip and some gorgeous weather, what a day!

Thank you to all of our awesome customers.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Minor Collision Dent of the Month

8/22/2013

We would first like to send our deepest condolences to Mr. Reynolds and his family on the passing of their son B.J.. We had the absolute pleasure of meeting this young man a few years ago and Tanya and I were blown away by his warmth and kindness.

This dent was a solid candidate due to location, access and depth. No paint was affected. The creased area ran across a body line and caved in the area behind the rear wheel flare causing a considerable gap. Team leader, "The Wife", Tanya de-trimmed the taillight and rear flare for access and complete visibility. The end result was a 90% removal, a "Wow!" and smile from one of our amazing small business owners and long time customers. Maintaining his companies vehicle image is so very gratifying for the Dentgeeks.

Congrats to "Rosey", Justin Rose, on capturing his first major "US Open".  What a swing, poetry in motion.  Also to Phil Mickelson on his first "Open Championship". Two of the finest and undoubtedly first class talented individuals on tour. 2013 summer in DFW is flying by and golfs final major, the P.G.A. Championship, has already past and Jason Dufner adds to a remarkable two year run.

Special thanks to one of our customers for the Aston joy ride. Wow!   To another one of our customers for allowing us to restore his 2000 F150 hail damage. Supercab with dual suicide doors and long bed.  What a terrific trip down nostalgia lane. Many thanks to another one of our CarPro Show referrals.  To Tai and Allen for the kind reviews. It was so great to see all the new faces this past month and all our awesome returning customers.

As always our very best to all.

Time to give thanks to the assembly line worker(s) in Germany!!

4/25/2013

We, who are privileged to be PDR technicians, must give thanks to the true pioneers that invented the process that so many of us count on for our livelihoods. Decades ago, I believe no one person really knows the exact year.  Some say the fifties, the first ding was repaired by a talented individual with some type of tool on an assembly line in Germany. Sure wish we knew the name of this person and could see that tool. Like many industries, ours too has progressed. The tool makers today have continued expertly crafting some time saving gems along with many helpful accessories and lighting, and let me not forget the glue pullers. How we kept our sanity in the early years without them is absolutely astonishing.  I'm still an old hail tech by design and have kept many of my first tools designed by Jerry Blehm (A1 tools) who was the first, to my knowledge, in mass producing PDR rods and hand tools.  Dentcraft have some amazing shaved whale tails and hook tools, a far cry from the wire tools used before (don't flip them).  Kboom lights were incredibly light weight.  Ansons 4 wheeled light was the standard for many years and the light of choice today for the dentgeek. Although, after seeing many reviews by some top techs around the country over the past few years, I now have an eye on the new 3 strip LEDs.  It's gonna be a tough decision because all of my lights have been given names over the years (attic dwellers now) . Neatly placed though. The old girl, "Make Em' Smile", who accompanies me on my daily journeys these days is still standing strong with some tender loving care and a few adjustments. Alright, enough rambling (you see, Pastor Johnson, even in this blog I'm a bit talkative). Can't help myself.  I'm part of one of the neatest industries ever. So "he who created Paintless dent repair", as an old AC/DC song says, "We salute you". Yes, a child of early eighties rock.

Continued success to all and to those still searching, maybe your the next great pioneer.

Congrats to Shane Jacks, the 2013 international dent olympic champion.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oy, Oy, Oy!

Still finding it hard to fathom that this was Australia's first Masters win. Long over due. Congrats to Adam Scott.  What a stud, (see Dad, those broom stick putters really work. Love you).  How about the 53 year old ageless, smooth swinging (Couples )?  Another top ten..... Wow.

What a week of painted metal repositioning.  A virtual gauntlet encountered along with some "mummblies".  Starting with high aspirations on an 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander fender that Tanya aptly described as taking a small ice cream scoop and "digging out" over 7 inches through a body line, gouging it in the process.  It proved to be stretched past the point of a national industry standard repair.  We are talking a few millimeters here and that's all it takes to stop, according to one of our customers, the caped one with an " S " on his chest.  Mario, that was some testimonial pal, thanks.

2013 GMC 1500 crew cab, white tri-coat diamond colored. Basketball mishap on the hood. Customer pushed on the area with something plastic, very nearly making it unsaveable. Stop... Drop it... and call an expert,  whether us or one of our experienced peers.

2006 Mercedes ML350, quarter panel, body line dent. Tail lamp R&I  and what I've heard some describe as a little "exorcist" head maneuver, as well.  That P90X Extreme Yoga really comes in handy.

Never a dull moment for the dentgeeks.  A weather delay afforded us some time to put finishing restoration touches on our "hand-me-down", weather stricken, spa and a long overdue haircut.

Back to work, you two!

Finished the week strong.  A 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with what I would describe as a "puncture" to the body line on a passenger front door near the edge.  De-trimmed interior door panel finding less than optimum leverage from one pre-manufactured access port. Combo package on this one ladies and gentlemen, brute force, little finesse with limited tool control.  No pressure. Customer described it as a 99% removal. I believe it was a vast overall improvement and a save from a traditional body shop repair method.

2008 Fj Cruiser passenger (insulated) front door. My Talented PDR brothers and sisters know the increased precision needed to execute a repair on said panels.  Popeye forearms resulting.

We were happy to extend family day, Sunday, for one of our CarPro Show referrals.

2013 Chevy Equinox fender. Referrals are truly the best compliments we can ever hope to receive. Thank you Mr. Reyonlds and that's a wrap.

Once again, thank you to all of our awesome customers.  It was a pleasure serving all our new and returning customers this past week.

Here is another great quote to start this week.  "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence." Vince Lombardi.

Best to all,

Congrats to the 14 year old phenom on making the cut.  Now, that's a savvy young man to keep an eye on.  Announcers, analysts and players alike having some difficultly putting into words the magnitude of this accomplishment.  I believe the youth today would describe it as EPIC!!!

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts."  Winston Churchill

Make it a great day
